PLASTIC DEBRIS
The whole purpose of the Vaigai Nathi Makkal Iyakkam Charitable Trust is the cleaning of the Vaigai Nathi riverbed. A number of volunteers, together with the core members of the Trust performed a thorough cleaning of the Vaigai Nathi riverbed.
SEWAGE REATMENT
Sewage and bio-medical wastes are being dumped into the Vaigai river every day. This was a successful attempt of using organic bio-enzymes to counteract the bad effects of the wastes. Sewage flowing into the river was treated to become regular water.
JUNK & DEBRIS
The Vaigai Nathi riverbed sees not only plastic debris, but also random items like the ones above. This was a whole 2-wheel cart which was discarded in the river. Many such items were fished out and the riverbed was given a much needed cleansing.
Vaigai Nathi Makkal Iyakkam Charitable Trust appeals to the upcoming generation to keep the Vaigai River clean.
